Fee Payments

The fees for making applications to the Labour Relations Board or the Collective Agreement Arbitration Bureau (CAAB) can be found in the Labour Relations Board Fees Regulation.

Fees apply to:

  • all applications filed under the Labour Relations Code (the Code)
  • initial responses to applications
  • mediation services

Fees don't apply to:

  • an applicant's final reply submission
  • further submissions requested by the Board
  • a party not filing a response
  • objections resolved by a Special Investigating Officer on the same day they are raised

Fees for filing and responding to applications

Code Section Application Fee
Section 141 - Reconsideration of Board decision $200
Initial response to Section 141 application $100
Other Code applications $100
Initial response to other Code applications $50

You have to pay the application fee for each Section of the Code you are applying under. For example, if you are applying for both a successorship declaration (Section 35) and a common employer declaration (Section 38), the Board considers them two applications even when they are filed in a single document.

Fees for mediation services

The daily rate for using a mediator's services is $250 per party.

How do I pay a fee?

You can pay your application fee by:

  • debit card,
  • credit card,
  • cheque,
  • money order, or
  • by charging the fee to a pre-approved account.

If you are filing an application using a Board form and want to pay by debit or credit card, complete the payment information page included with the form. If you are filing an application by written submission and want to pay by debit or credit card, contact the Board by email.
