Members of the public who use the Kootenay Lake Ferry have contacted the Labour Relations Board with questions about the essential service order related to the ferry strike.  A copy of the order is available here.

While the Board issues the essential services order, it does so based on the positions and arguments made by the Union and the Employer, who are the parties to the labour dispute. Either party can apply to the Board to amend the order if it is no longer responsive to the health, safety, and welfare of British Columbians. If you have concerns with the scope of the order, we encourage you to identify those concerns to the Union and the Employer so that they can consider whether to apply for an amendment. We understand both the Union and the Employer have representatives at the ferry terminals during the labour dispute. Even if they are unable to help you themselves, they will be able to provide you with contact information for those within their respective organizations who can.

You can also find additional information about strike related issues, including essential service orders, on the Board’s website here: https://www.lrb.bc.ca/collective-bargaining
